One day a turtle was born. When he just came out he realized dogs and crows were surrounding the whole beach. But try as they might, they just couldn’t catch the turtle. And suddenly all the siblings gathered in a large group and he rushed in that group. He rushed in that group and that gang started mixing and mixing. Just then the dogs and crows were confused. They couldn’t find out which was the turtle. So the dogs walked off and the crows flew off.

Soon the hatchlings knew there were dangers in the sea but try as they might the enemies couldn’t catch them. The baby turtle’s name was Belly. The sharks and the other big fish spread out and surrounded the hatchlings. Just then Belly fell for an idea. His sister Otter also fell for an idea. They started fighting on whose idea was better but they soon agreed. Otter’s idea was to start nipping at the sharks and big fish. Then Otter told her best friends Walrus, Blubber and Flake to nip the sharks and the fish and scare them away. The idea worked.

The hatchlings went to find the mother. Blubber went first and she found her mother who was in Australia lying down and sleeping on the sand. Then suddenly a pack of dingoes found their mother. Blubber was afraid her mother would get killed but they waited for her to wake up. Suddenly her eyes opened and she scared off the dingoes by snapping at them.

Belly and Otter found their mother and they found her back in India. She was eating small plants and shells. Once Belly and Otter found her they were happy. Their mother realized they were with her because she felt something crawling on her back. Suddenly she looked up and knocked them over. They recognized that she was getting more curious. She ate and ate for a long long time. The babies scurried to her and started nibbling the plants. She lunged at the plants and grabbed them with her teeth.

And soon she told her babies to leave to Kerala.  At Kerala, the babies saw more plants and hid in them and started nibbling at the plants. And suddenly when she saw them with her eyes, she picked them gently with her mouth and plopped them at her feet. And soon there was a small movement. It was coming from a shell. Suddenly a head poked out. It was a crab. It was growing shells. After it had grown its new shell, it dug a hole in the sand and disappeared. Just then a bird appeared on the hold where the crab had disappeared. It poked its beak in the hole and pulled out the crab and ate it.

Billy was with his mother. They were digging a burrow in the sand for the winter. But soon they got afraid that they wouldn’t act like funny turtles so they pushed the sand back into the burrow and went slowly back into the water. But the mother was fast but not so fast. She was careful not to abandon Belly and Otter. Then meanwhile some crabs came to dig their burrow. Then they pushed out the sand till the burrow was empty of sand and full of crabs.  But later when the turtles saw their burrow was empty of sand the babies got sad and the mother got upset. She wanted to see who did that when she saw the crabs, she jumped in a thundering temper and scared off them.

Then when the winter came they were feeling very happy. Their adventures were just beginning.

Story of a Turtle
Once upon a    time there    was   a   turtle living   in    a sea.  One day   the   turtle  went   to   land and    laid  eggs   and   buried  them. But   the  turtle  was   so   hungry   so  it   ate   plastic and   died.  But   another    turtle   came   and looked at   the    dead   turtle   and    went   away.  Suddenly  the   dog    came  and  ate   up   all   the   eggs. But   one   after   45 days   the   one   baby   turtle   came   out.  But the    baby   turtle    could not go   to   the   sea   because there   was   no   moon  light   and   there was street   light.   So   the baby turtle   slept   on   the   mud. Next   day    nobody   was   there  because  that   was  a   working    day.  But   one   8 year old   boy named   Mohemed  came   to    the    sea.  He   saw   the   baby   turtle and   took   the baby    turtle to the sea.  He   loved   the    baby    turtle.  And the   baby  turtle    loved   him.

One day one turtle man came to our school. He bring Australian turtles. Then he asked our names.we touched it .He gave tattoos. They put in the TV turtle movie. The mother turtle came and laid eggs in the sand and she went .Then that time the turtle baby hatched and went to the sea.

But in the sand dogs will eat the babies.Even crabs will eat.we should not put plastic bags and balloons in the sand because they will think is a food and eat it and will go stuck in the oesophagus.

And even not put many lights they don’t  know where is the water and go to the lights ,because they see moon light only and go to the sea.otherwise they go to the road, the vehicles will crash and they will die.

Fisherman should not leave hook and some boats with fans will hit the turtles. They should not take nets where the turtles cannot go,should take net where the turtles can go.

We went to the beach and saw many turtle hatchlings.one uncle left the turtles from the basket in to the sand. They saw the moon light and went in to the sea. They put some marks in the sand and went.

I was sick and I did not go to school, when I got a call to remind me about the TURTLE TALK. I was very excited and I rushed to the school. I was happy I did not miss the talk

Ater Hafiz uncle came with his 3 small Australian Vegetarian turtles in a fish bowl, we all gathered around it. Hafiz uncle first gave a small introduction and then showed us a movie on the turtle. We were also given a chance to touch the turtles. We actually posed for a picture with the turtles in our hands - that was fun I learnt a lot about the turtles that day. I loved taking them in my hands and we had questions about the turtles to ask hafiz uncle.

If these cute creatures were not there, I would never know about them, I would never get this chance of touching or feeling them and never get to have such a good day at school.

We all should work together and SAVE TURTLES

Turtles are reptiles. They look like tortoises except that they have flippers for swimming and live in the sea. Turtles lived more than 200 million years ago.

Turtles lay their eggs in beaches. The Ridley turtles lay their eggs in Chennai beaches and Orissa beaches.  The mother turtle digs the hole. She first lays the female eggs and then the male and the sterile eggs. Then she covers the top and she goes to the sea. After she leaves the dogs, crabs and crows eat up the eggs. When they hatch in the morning, they wait till the night and then they come out from the hole. The hatchlings get the direction of the sea from seeing the moon. That’s why we should turn off all the lights on the sea coast. They live in the sea till they grow up. The female turtles come back to the same sea coast and lay their eggs.

Turtles are endangered because there is a lot of plastic on the beaches. When the mother turtle lays eggs, it gets hungry and eats up the plastic. The plastic makes them suffocate and they die. Some turtles die of drowning because they get caught in fishermen’s nets. We can avoid throwing plastic into the sea. And we can clean up the beach.

A man from EZONE named Hafiz came to our school to teach us about turtles and how to save turtles. He brought three hatchlings. He allowed us to keep the hatchlings in our hand. I took one of the hatchlings. He was really shy. He didn’t show his face. When I kept him on the table, he walked a little faster. He tried to escape. He couldn’t. I took him in my hand and put him in the tank with his two other brothers.

A turtle is a reptile. Turtles live in the sea. Some sea turtles spend their lives within a small area. Turtles live for hundreds of years. The Pacific Ridley is the smallest turtle and the Leatherback is the biggest turtle.  They will come out from the sea, then they will lay hundreds of eggs in the sand. The turtle goes back to the water. Turtles hatch after six weeks. They will come out of the egg and go back to the sea. Sometimes birds eat turtles. The turtle eats fish, snails, crabs, lobsters.

Turtles are endangered because of the light on the beach.  In some beaches, there will be a light on the beach. The turtles follow the lights because they will think it is the sea. They will cross the road and car will come and crash.  Turtles are endangered because of fishing. In the nets, some turtles will get caught and they will die. The green turtle is hunted in great numbers for its meat and shell. Some people will eat turtle skin and now it is an endangered animal. We should use a net which can catch fish and release the turtle.
