Ramadhan Around the world slideshow

Elementary & upper grades saw a cool slideshow on how Ramadhan is being observed around the world. They saw images of iftaars in France, Turkey, Egypt, India, Saudi. There were images of Tarawih in Yemen & Malaysia, of children reading Quran in Afghanistan, of iftaar being prepared in Kenya & Somalia, of moon sighting in Indonesia. The children groaned at the sight of all the different foods especially since many were fasting. But they loved the Palestinian lanterns, outdoor iftars, pictures of beautiful mosques. They could relate to all the children also reciting the Holy Quran in different parts of the world. As is typical with Al Qamar kids, there were questions and comments galore - "Why is he making dua standing up?" "That's the Blue Mosque - I visited there", "Why is there a picture of Mohd Morsi on the lantern?" "The Qatayef looks like dosa" "They also eat seviyan like us?" What is that red dish?"

A fun interactive session which exposed the children to global celebrations of Ramadhan!
