Summer Camp held at Al Qamar Academy

The coolest summer camp was held at Al Qamar Academy from 30th April to 6th May. The kids had a wonderful time with an amazing collection of exciting activities. On Day 1 they had Hafiz Khan teaching them how to create lovely bags out of old Tshirts. The kids snipped the bottoms of the t-shirts and knotted them. The arm holes became the handles. What a cool idea!

Day 2 had scientists Br. Imran and Br. Abdul Jaleel teaching kids "science with conscience" where they taught the kids about diminishing earth resources, the importance of recycling and how to really recycle. The kids learned about hydroponics, composting and made best friends with earthworms!! We thank Dr. Sultan Ismail who made this day possible by the Grace of Allah SWT and Brs. Imran & Abdul Jaleel who were a huge inspiration to our budding scientists.

Day 3 had Br. Abdul Taher teaching the kids how to write creative stories. He showed the kids an orange and asked them to compose stories. Amazing creative stuff emerged. Watch this site for updates as I type and publish each of these.

Day 4 had Sr. Umm Hafsa teaching the kids how to customize Tshirts by hand painting them. The lovely unique personalized...... tshirts are all a work of the kids.

Day 5 was Jummah! And the kids learned about the importance of Surah Kahf. And recited it! And learned about the Seerah of the Holy Prophet SAW

Day 6 - All time Al Qamar favourites - Br. Mohsin and Br. Azeem from IRAP India's first nasheed group taught the children how to write nasheeds. They sang regular nasheeds like the "Months of Islam" but then got down to the serious task of composing a nasheed of their own. Very very cool.
Here is the nasheed:
"Allahuakbar, Allahuakbar, Allahuakbar, Allahuakbar
Allah is Great
Allah is might
Allah is merciful
... Allah is kind.
He created the golden sun which shines so bright
He created the silver moon which comes at night
Allahuakbar, Allahuakbar, Allahuakbar, Allahuakbar"

A huge thanks to all the people who made this camp possible. Alhamdulillah!
