The 5th & 6th Grades visited the Birla Planetarium today in connection with the Science lesson on "Earth & its Neighbours" from the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education Small Science curriculum. They were fascinated by the movie "Two Pieces of Glass" where they learned about telescopes, history of astronomy and celestial bodies. The astronomy exhibits were very informatiive too especially since the children have been learning about the different constellations and trying to identify them at night.

Their latest project is to create an Astronomy 101 course for little kids. They also have to do research on one Muslim astronomer and give his contribution to the field.  We had a fascinating discussion the other day in class about why Muslims contributed so heavily to astronomy.
